The move is a response to passage of House Bill 1376 and Senate Bill 1413 which became law January 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The law bans the sale of products with high levels of THCa, THCp, and other synthetic cannabinoids, defining hemp-derived products as illegal if they contain more than 0.3% total THC on a dry weight basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Options like smokables and vapes, which Rush said account for most of his sales, must be eliminated from shelves by June 30.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rush, who has been in business for about a decade, said pullback from uneasy wholesalers has already led him to lay off three of his 11 employees and place his kitchen staff on standby.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He operates one store in Maryville and another in Madisonville, as well as a farm that manufactures edibles, salves and tinctures.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rush said he will likely close the Madisonville location and end farm operations this summer.
