James Tomiczek, the developer behind The Greenway Village near Gamble Avenue, is preparing to construct an elevated Mexican food restaurant concept at 205 W. Broadway Ave. in downtown Maryville.
Tentatively named “Tattooed Taco,” the restaurant will have a price point aimed at an accessible middle ground in downtown dining.
“It’ll probably be more than your mom and pop Mexican kind of place, but it’s less than the other finer dining places,” Tomiczek said, adding that the plate price will likely be lower than nearby Bella.
It will also join five other sit-down Mexican food restaurant options in Maryville, including the soon-to-open Chapulines Tequila Bar on Foothills Drive.
In its current form, the restaurant will also feature a rooftop bar — now one of four planned for downtown with the addition of Wells Tavern, The Armory and the planned Holiday Inn across the street from Tomiczek’s project.
Marble City Hospitality, the company behind Seasons Innovative Bar and Grille in Turkey Creek, is slated to operate.
Tomiczek anticipates site work in front of the municipal parking garage will begin in late June, with construction starting in the fall.
